With just two days remaining until its release, the film ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ has signaled a strong start at the box office with overwhelming advance ticket sales.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system on the 15th, ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ ranked No.1 as of 7 a.m. that day, posting an advance booking rate of 73% and surpassing 380,000 tickets sold. In particular, overseas media and critics who attended advance screenings at premieres have heightened expectations with glowing reviews, calling it “a film that reminds audiences why theaters exist” (Variety), “an overwhelming spectacle that pours everything onto the screen” (Scott Mendelson), “a visual masterpiece” (Bleeding Cool), “jaw-dropping from start to finish and the most visually overwhelming theatrical experience in recent years” (Geeks of Color), and “an unbelievably immersive return to the world of Pandora” (Collider).
‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ follows the Sully family as they grapple with grief after the death of their eldest son, Neteyam, only to face an even greater crisis on a Pandora engulfed in fire and ash with the emergence of the Ash Clan led by Varang. The film is the third installment in the ‘Avatar’ series, which drew 13.62 million viewers in Korea and achieved global box office success, and is set for its world-first release on December 17.
