On the 11th, Wavve announced that it will exclusively release the 4K remastered version of the stop-motion animation masterpiece “Coraline” (imported and distributed by Locus) on December 18 via its OTT platform.
The animated film “Coraline” is a dark fantasy adventure depicting the story of Coraline, who often feels lonely because her parents are always busy with work. After moving into a new house, she discovers a secret door that leads her to the “Other World,” where she meets button-eyed “Other Parents,” unfolding into a mysterious adventure.
The film is directed and written by stop-motion master Henry Selick, known for “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” and stars Hollywood actress Dakota Fanning as the voice of Coraline.
“Coraline” has long proven its popularity and artistic value. Upon its initial 2009 release, it won the Grand Prize at the 33rd International Animation Festival and was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards. In 2024, marking its 15th anniversary, it was re-released as a 3D remastered version in North America, outperforming the 4K remastered 3D re-release of “Avatar” (2022) and generating significant buzz.
Wavve stated, “Thanks to the overwhelming support from Korean fans for the film ‘Coraline,’ we decided to exclusively release the 4K remastered version on December 18. As Christmas and the year-end season approach, we expect strong interest from adult viewers seeking a work that stimulates emotion and imagination.”
