Ryu Hyun-jin couldn’t hide his admiration for chef Kim Poong’s cooking.
On the December 7 broadcast of JTBC’s “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator,” a 15-minute cooking battle unfolds around the refrigerator of legendary Korean baseball pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin. As the final match of the 2025 regular season and the decisive gateway to the year-end “Championship Playoff,” the competition among the chefs is fiercer than ever.
The first match pits co-fifth-place chefs Yoon Nam-no and Kwon Sung-joon against each other with “pork dishes.” The chef who loses this round is officially eliminated from the championship, raising tensions from the very beginning. Yoon provokes by saying, “I’ve never lost to Chef Kwon,” while Kwon responds confidently, “I’m the autumn man of the chef world.”
The second match features Ryu Hyun-jin’s favorite category, “fried dishes,” as Kim Poong faces Park Eun-young. Riding high with 10 wins in the new season, Kim Poong will clinch the No. 2 overall spot and advance to the championship if he wins, while Park Eun-young also has a pathway to advancement, making it a showdown neither can afford to lose.
Kim Poong’s dish especially impressed Ryu Hyun-jin. Initially relaxed after judging only by appearance, Ryu burst into laughter the moment he took a bite, saying, “This is exactly the flavor I expected from Chef Kim Poong.” Choo Shin-soo added, “I got goosebumps the moment I ate it,” unable to hide his surprise.
From roaring crowd-like cheering to a do-or-die battle among four chefs, the final match of the 2025 regular season will air on December 7 at 9 p.m. on JTBC’s “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator.”
