The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Choi Hwi-young) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (Acting President Yoo Hyun-seok, hereafter KOCCA) confirmed the global expansion potential of K-content through an IP networking event held in Singapore.
On the 5th, KOCCA announced that the recently held “Content IP Xcelerate in Singapore” at Guoco Midtown in Singapore had successfully come to an end.
“Content IP Xcelerate” is the first K-content intellectual property (IP) cooperation program promoted since the establishment of KOCCA’s Singapore Business Center last year. It was designed to support Korean companies in discovering opportunities for co-production, investment, and partnership.
This event brought together 12 Korean content companies, including Wemad, Mr. Romance, New Universe, and Studio21, along with 21 global investment and production companies such as Verda Principal Investment, Beach House Pictures, and Mediacorp. Through 137 on-site business matching sessions and investment strategy workshops, the event served as an opportunity to identify practical cooperation methods.
Significant co-production achievements were made on-site. The short-form production company New Universe signed an MOU with Singapore’s platform company Belive, confirming the co-production of more than 50 new short-form dramas over the next year, valued at over 10 billion KRW.
Additionally, Mr. Romance announced a co-production with Singapore’s national media company Mediacorp for the drama “Orange Boy from the North,” raising expectations for a global project that combines Korean directing expertise with local infrastructure.
Park Sang-wook, Director of KOCCA’s Singapore Business Center, said, “This program serves as a practical milestone for expanding K-content cooperation networks in key Asian markets,” adding, “We will continue to provide field-oriented support such as strengthening co-production foundations and investment linkage so that companies can secure growth engines overseas.”
Meanwhile, KOCCA will continue to support Korean companies’ expansion into Southeast Asia in connection with major local markets, including “Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF) 2025.”
