[News Culture] JENNIE brought Lollapalooza Chicago to a close with an hour-long headline set that paired a live band with 18 songs, including the first performances of both her latest single and an unreleased track.
The BLACKPINK member headlined the festival’s Bud Light stage on Aug. 1, becoming the first Korean female solo artist to take the closing slot on one of Lollapalooza’s main stages.
Now in its 35th year, the Chicago festival draws more than 400,000 attendees and has hosted headliners including The Weeknd and Coldplay.
Rather than relying on a standard backing track-led festival setup, JENNIE built the show around a full live band. The arrangement gave the hour-long set a harder, more immediate edge while allowing her to move freely across pop, hip-hop and R&B.
She performed “Less than a Lover” live for the first time following its recent release. The biggest surprise came later, when she introduced an unreleased song without advance notice, drawing one of the loudest reactions of the night.
The 18-song set placed equal emphasis on performance and musicianship, presenting JENNIE not simply as a member of BLACKPINK but as a solo artist with a distinct festival identity of her own.
Near the end of the show, she thanked the crowd for sharing the moment with her.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who was here with me tonight,” she said. “I will carry the memories we made together for the rest of my life.”
The Chicago appearance marks the latest stop in JENNIE’s expanding global festival schedule. She is also set to perform at Summer Sonic 2026 in Japan as she continues her run across major international stages.
