[News Culture] The mystery surrounding The Husband is no longer confined to Go Se-yoon’s disappearance.
Episode 8, aired July 26, pulled Kang Tae-joo (Namkoong Min) into a much larger conspiracy, linking his wife’s kidnapping to a buried medical scandal — before ending with a death that threatens to cut off one of his most important leads.
Tae-joo wasted little time after his release from detention. He returned to Kim Kyung-ae’s (Lee Sang-hee) hospital room and stopped Ha Jung-soo (Jeon Gwang-jin) from killing her, but Jung-soo escaped before revealing who had sent him.
His only explanation — that he had simply followed orders — was enough to push Tae-joo’s suspicions even closer to his father-in-law, Go Dong-chan (Jang Gwang).
The episode also opened a window into Dong-chan’s past, revealing that fetal stem cells had been used in medical procedures without patients’ consent. Rather than distance himself from the practice, Dong-chan defended it through its results, exposing just how far he had been willing to go in the name of success.
For Tae-joo, the revelation gave the kidnapping case an entirely new context.
His confrontation with Dong-chan produced few direct answers, but the silence did not last long. Tae-joo later found Jung-soo dead in an emergency stairwell, with a syringe and potassium chloride nearby.
The timing immediately raised the possibility that Jung-soo had been silenced before he could reveal who was behind the attack on Kyung-ae.
At the same time, Noh Man-hee (Kim Dae-myung) became an even more disturbing presence. His attempts to learn Kyung-ae’s condition escalated into intimidation and threats against innocent people, while his reaction to Tae-joo’s hospital visit hinted that the two men are moving toward a direct clash.
With Dong-chan’s past beginning to unravel, Jung-soo suddenly dead and Man-hee growing increasingly unstable, Episode 8 left Tae-joo surrounded by more questions — and fewer people who can answer them.
The episode posted a nationwide rating of 7.5 percent and peaked at 9.2 percent, marking another series high and placing The Husband first among dramas in its time slot.
