[News Culture] Namkoong Min set his sights on Jang Gwang as The Husband drove its kidnapping mystery deeper in Episode 7, ending on another tense cliffhanger.
The July 25 episode saw Kang Tae-joo (Namkoong Min) rescue Go Se-yoon (Lee Seol) after a violent struggle with Noh Man-hee (Kim Dae-myung). Tae-joo was seriously injured in the process and taken into police custody, despite Se-yoon insisting that he had only acted to save her.
Man-hee, meanwhile, fled after an emotional farewell to his wife Kim Kyung-ae (Lee Sang-hee). Barely able to move, Kyung-ae urged him to leave without her, and Man-hee disappeared after promising that he would return.
Kyung-ae was later taken to Woori Together Hospital, where director Go Dong-chan (Jang Gwang) refused to operate. Tae-joo, determined to uncover the truth behind the kidnapping, insisted that she had to survive and decided to perform the surgery himself. Se-yoon also urged the hospital to allow the operation to go ahead.
Dong-chan's cryptic remarks shortly before the surgery further unsettled Tae-joo, who struggled to contain his anger toward Kyung-ae. Once inside the operating room, however, he put those emotions aside and successfully completed the procedure, caught between his resentment and his duty as a doctor.
The case took another turn when the 3 billion won Tae-joo said he had secured vanished without a trace. He maintained during police questioning that everything he had done was to save his wife, but remained in custody, while Man-hee caused further trouble as he continued his escape.
The biggest shock came near the end of the episode.
Ha Jung-soo (Jeon Gwang-jin) attempted to kill Kyung-ae, only for Tae-joo to intervene in time. The attack raised new questions over why someone was so determined to silence her, prompting Tae-joo to dig deeper into her connection with the hospital.
His suspicions soon turned to Dong-chan.
Tae-joo confronted Kyung-ae and demanded to know who was behind her before putting the question directly to her: “Is it Director Go Dong-chan?”
The final confrontation sent the kidnapping case in a new direction. Tae-joo has already rescued Se-yoon and confronted Man-hee, but the missing money, the attempt on Kyung-ae's life and her connection to the hospital suggest that the full truth remains hidden.
Episode 7 also gave Namkoong Min room to move between anger, desperation and restraint. Tae-joo was forced to operate on a woman tied to his wife's ordeal, then later protect that same woman from being killed, all while continuing to pursue the truth behind the kidnapping.
Viewers responded strongly to Namkoong Min's emotional performance and the drama's unpredictable developments, with attention now turning to whether Tae-joo's suspicions about Dong-chan will bring him closer to the real story.
