[News Culture] Namkoong Min's desperate rescue mission took a brutal turn in the latest episode of KBS2's "The Husband," leaving his character's fate hanging in the balance after a violent roadside attack.
Episode 6, which aired July 19, recorded a nationwide rating of 6.7% and peaked at 8.8% in real time, according to Nielsen Korea. The drama gained 1.3 percentage points from its previous episode and ranked No. 1 among dramas airing in the same time slot across all channels.
The episode opened with Go Se-yoon (Lee Seol) making a desperate bid for freedom. She managed to escape the place where she had been held captive, only to find herself stranded amid an icy landscape and dense forest. Even the car she flagged down for help offered no safety, as an unexpected betrayal sent her ordeal spiraling in a new direction. Kim Kyung-ae's (Lee Sang-hee) sudden change in demeanor added another chilling layer to the tension.
What awaited Se-yoon after she regained consciousness was even more disturbing. The revelation of a connection between Noh Man-hee (Kim Dae-myung) and Kim Kyung-ae deepened the shock, while the mounting pressure inside the confined space pushed Se-yoon's fear to its limit.
Kang Tae-joo (Namkoong Min), meanwhile, refused to give up the search. An early lead proved false, but he quickly regrouped after uncovering another clue. His relentless pursuit eventually brought him to the hideout, where he took up a gun and moved in to rescue his wife. The tense infiltration and ensuing confrontation kept the episode firmly on edge.
The rescue did little to ease the conflict between the couple. Se-yoon remained deeply suspicious of Tae-joo, and the rift between them was far from resolved. Just as he finally persuaded her to leave with him, another threat appeared at the door.
The episode then shifted into overdrive. Armed with a metal pipe, Noh Man-hee launched a surprise attack, triggering a vicious struggle that escalated into a fight over the gun. Tae-joo and Se-yoon eventually managed to escape the chaos, but their ordeal was far from over.
The climax unfolded in a high-stakes car chase. Their pursuer repeatedly rammed their vehicle, pushing the situation to breaking point. Even after the crash, Tae-joo's first instinct was to check on his wife. That was when Noh Man-hee appeared once again.
With Tae-joo vulnerable, Man-hee raised a shovel handle and brought it crashing down. The screen cut away at the moment of impact, closing the episode on a brutal cliffhanger.
Episode 7 of "The Husband" airs July 25 at 9:20 p.m. KST.
