Rain blurred more than the landscape in Episode 5 of SBS drama "AGENT KIM." Just as Kim Bu-jang appeared to be within reach of rescuing his daughter, fate pulled them apart once again, pushing the story into its most emotionally charged chapter yet.
The episode posted another series high, earning a 21.0 percent rating in the Seoul metropolitan area, 20.5 percent nationwide, and peaking at 23.1 percent. It also recorded a 6.6 percent rating among viewers aged 20 to 49, making it the week's highest-rated program in the key demographic.
Kim Bu-jang's emotional breaking point arrived after confronting Kim Sang-man at the Myeongpo Port container office. Faced with words implying his daughter's death, he briefly faltered before regaining his composure. His cold declaration that everything would be over if she were truly dead underscored how far he was prepared to go.
Meanwhile, Seong Han-su and Park Jin-cheol launched operations of their own, hijacking a prisoner transport vehicle, evading pursuit, and securing weapons to support Kim Bu-jang's rescue mission.
The action intensified inside the container yard, where Kim Bu-jang fought Park Kang-seong despite suffering a gunshot wound. The brutal knife fight and hand-to-hand combat also exposed long-buried truths behind a past operation, revealing that the tragedy had been orchestrated for power while a fallen comrade's final request continued to drive Kim Bu-jang's determination.
Elsewhere, Min-ji refused to remain a victim. Trapped inside a freezing warehouse, she fought back with a steel pipe, escaped on her own, and transformed from someone waiting to be rescued into someone fighting for survival.
When Kim Bu-jang finally reached the warehouse, he found only traces of his daughter. A brief message left behind confirmed that she was still alive, sending him racing into the pouring rain without hesitation.
The episode's defining sequence followed as father and daughter ran through the maze of shipping containers. Kim Bu-jang spotted Min-ji from above, yet the distance between them proved impossible to overcome. The pounding rain drowned out his voice, and their heartbreaking near reunion slipped away in silence.
As Kim Bu-jang resumed the search with outside assistance, it became increasingly clear that every thread of the investigation led back to Min-ji. But he was not the only one pursuing her, and another dangerous force quickly entered the race.
The episode closed on a chilling twist. Believing she had finally found help, Min-ji climbed into a vehicle and fell asleep, unaware that the man behind the wheel was the very person she should have feared most. The final image left viewers with another devastating setback just when hope seemed closest.
