RESCENE has pulled off one of K-pop's most unexpected chart breakthroughs of the year.
The girl group's 2024 single "LOVE ATTACK" climbed to No. 1 on Melon TOP100, nearly two years after its release. Originally issued as the title track from the debut mini album SCENEDROME, the song has become a rare example of a delayed breakout driven by viral online attention rather than a traditional promotional cycle.
The turnaround began after clips featuring member Woni gained traction across social media, drawing new listeners to the group. As interest spread, "LOVE ATTACK" steadily climbed the streaming charts before ultimately reaching the top spot.
The single now leads Melon TOP100 while also ranking among the top titles on FLO, Genie and Bugs, signaling broad momentum across Korea's major music platforms.
The renewed attention is already carrying over to RESCENE's latest release.
The group's remake single "Pretty Girl," released July 8, debuted at No. 1 on Melon HOT100 before rising to No. 5 on Melon TOP100. The song also reached No. 2 on the Bugs real-time chart, giving RESCENE two songs in the Top 5 simultaneously.
Interest has expanded beyond those two songs. Earlier tracks including "Pinball," "Deja Vu" and "Runaway" have also returned to the charts, suggesting that listeners are exploring the group's catalog rather than revisiting a single viral hit.
The members marked the milestone with an unannounced livestream, thanking fans for supporting the group throughout its journey.
"We came on as soon as we heard the news," the members said, adding that they still found the achievement difficult to believe.
They repeatedly credited their fandom, RE:MINE, for making the milestone possible and promised to repay that support with even better performances.
Several members became emotional during the broadcast, describing their tears as "happy tears" before thanking fans once again for helping turn a long-awaited breakthrough into reality.
RESCENE has built a distinct musical identity since its debut, but its biggest breakthrough arrived long after its original promotions had ended. The recent surge has transformed not only "LOVE ATTACK" but much of the group's early catalog into newly discovered favorites, giving the quintet one of K-pop's most notable late-blooming success stories.
RESCENE will perform "Pretty Girl" for the first time on Mnet's M Countdown on July 9, as industry observers watch to see whether the group's streaming success can translate into sustained mainstream momentum.
