Ahn Bo-hyun is heading back to the precinct this summer as SBS revives one of its most successful action-comedy franchises.
Premiering Aug. 7 after the conclusion of "AGENT KIM," "Flex X Cop 2" reunites Ahn with Jung Eun-chae for a new chapter centered on wealthy detective Jin I-soo and veteran investigator Joo Hye-ra. As their opponents become smarter and more dangerous, the pair must rely on both unconventional tactics and hard-earned experience to crack increasingly complex cases.
When the original series debuted in 2024, it stood out by blending fast-paced police action with sharp comedy and the fantasy of limitless resources. The formula struck a chord with viewers, pushing the drama to a peak 11 percent household rating in the Seoul metropolitan area, according to Nielsen Korea, and earning it a place alongside SBS franchise hits including "Taxi Driver," "The Fiery Priest," "The Judge from Hell" and "Good Partner." The network subsequently ordered a second season.
Director Kim Jae-hong and writer Kim Bada return alongside Ahn, while Jung reprises her role as detective Joo Hye-ra, bringing the drama's original creative team back together.
The first teaser signals that the series is doubling down on the qualities that made Jin I-soo a standout television detective. Still as extravagant as ever, he approaches police work with the confidence, style and resources that only a chaebol heir could bring. At the same time, the preview hints at a detective who has matured since his first outing, suggesting that experience now carries as much weight as privilege.
Rather than reinventing its lead, the new season appears focused on expanding his world. Bigger investigations, more elaborate action sequences and an even broader scale promise to raise the stakes while preserving the playful energy that defined the original series.
"Flex X Cop 2" premieres on SBS on Aug. 7.
