Kim Bu-jang returns to the battlefield as his search for his kidnapped daughter begins
So Ji-sub is back in familiar territory, anchoring SBS's new action drama AGENT KIM with the commanding screen presence that has defined much of his career. Just two episodes into its run, the series has climbed to a 15.8% nationwide rating, quickly emerging as one of the season's breakout hits.
Premiering on June 26, AGENT KIM follows an ordinary father whose quiet life is shattered when his only daughter is kidnapped. So Ji-sub stars as Kim Bu-jang, a devoted parent who has spent years concealing his past as an elite covert operative in order to honor a promise to his late wife.
At home, Kim is simply a father determined to give his daughter the life she deserves. In his former life, however, he was one of the agency's most formidable field operatives. The opening episodes reveal that past through meticulously staged action sequences, from precision sniper work and tactical assaults to a daring vehicle hijacking that ends with a plunge into the Imjin River.
Everything changes when Min-ji (Seo Su-min) disappears without a trace. Forced to abandon the life he built as an ordinary father, Kim reawakens the instincts and skills he had buried for years. As the search intensifies, the drama shifts into a high-stakes pursuit driven as much by parental desperation as explosive action.
So Ji-sub moves effortlessly between large-scale action and restrained emotional drama, delivering convincing hand-to-hand combat, high-speed chase scenes and the quiet anguish of a father refusing to give up on his daughter. His chemistry with Choi Dae-hoon's Seong Han-soo and Yoon Kyung-ho's Park Jin-cheol adds further weight to the unfolding story.
AGENT KIM airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS.
