BTS has continued to draw widespread acclaim from leading Western music publications for its fifth studio album ARIRANG, reinforcing the group's status as one of the defining pop acts of the 21st century.
According to BIGHIT MUSIC on June 23, ARIRANG has recently been highlighted by major English-language media outlets including Rolling Stone, NME, Complex and The Telegraph as one of the most notable albums released in 2026.
Critics praised the album for blending Korean musical identity with contemporary global pop influences while showcasing the group's continued artistic growth. Several reviews noted BTS' return to the hip-hop foundations that shaped the group's early career, paired with more mature storytelling and expansive production.
The recognition extends beyond the album's lead single "SWIM." Publications also singled out tracks including "Hooligan," "2.0" and "Body to Body," highlighting the project's overall consistency and musical depth.
The critical reception comes as ARIRANG and "SWIM" continue to maintain strong positions on Spotify's global charts 13 weeks after release. BTS has also sustained momentum with the recent release of anniversary single "Come Over," unveiled in celebration of the group's 13th debut anniversary.
The group is set to launch the European leg of its world tour on June 26 and 27 in Madrid, Spain, as part of a global trek spanning 34 cities and 88 shows. BTS will also headline the halftime show at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final on July 19 alongside Madonna and Shakira.
