A new political maneuver is set to shake the presidential race in Fifties Professionals, as Kim Sang-kyung and Kwon Yul’s characters launch a calculated operation against a leading candidate.
Episodes 7 and 8 of the MBC Friday-Saturday drama will follow Han Kyung-wook (Kim Sang-kyung) and Chairman Do (Kwon Yul) as they execute a carefully orchestrated scheme targeting Kim Sun-jung (Kang Shin-il), a frontrunner in the presidential election.
Previous episodes saw longtime rivals Jung Ho-myung (Shin Ha-kyun) and Kang Beom-ryong (Heo Sung-tae) set aside their differences and join forces, signaling the beginning of a counterattack. Meanwhile, Prosecutor Kang (Kim Shin-rok) moved closer to uncovering the truth behind Heaven Capital’s alleged systematic exploitation of land owned by residents of Yeongseondo.
The drama also heightened anticipation by showing Jung Ho-myung and Kang Beom-ryong tracking down Baek Sajang, a key figure in a smuggling ring, in an effort to cut off funding tied to a major drug operation.
Newly released stills capture Han Kyung-wook and Chairman Do in a secret meeting. Seated across from one another with serious expressions, the two appear to be discussing a high-stakes strategy. Attention is particularly focused on Han, a longtime political power broker, as he begins crafting a new plan aimed directly at Kim Sun-jung.
Known for employing every political tactic necessary to secure his objectives, Han is expected to launch a public campaign portraying Kim Sun-jung as a corrupt politician, potentially reshaping the entire presidential race.
Additional images reveal Chairman Do meeting privately with Geum Kang-sik (Lee Soon-won). Sharing a toast with wine glasses raised, the pair appear confident in the operation they are preparing behind the scenes.
In contrast, another image shows Yoo In-gu (Hyun Bong-sik) watching with a hardened expression, adding another layer of tension. With Geum Kang-sik currently acting as an internal source supplying information to Chairman Do’s side, questions remain about where the relationships among the three men will ultimately lead.
Whether Chairman Do intends to sever ties with Yoo In-gu or is concealing another strategic calculation remains one of the key mysteries heading into the upcoming episodes.
