SBS Friday-Saturday drama "My Royal Nemesis" delivered another powerful ending that left viewers reeling. Heo Nam-jun showcased the vulnerable side of a third-generation chaebol brought to his knees by love, while a tearful kiss with Lim Ji-yeon created one of the series' most memorable moments to date.
Episode 9, which aired on June 5, followed Cha Segye (Heo Nam-jun) as he moved one step closer to uncovering the truth behind the recurring dreams that have haunted him. At the same time, Shin Seori (Lim Ji-yeon) realized that Cha Segye is the reincarnation of Lee Hyun, the man who loved her in a past life, setting the stage for a major turning point in their relationship.
Cha Segye could no longer hide his feelings for Seori. One of the episode's standout moments came when he unexpectedly appeared on the set of Seori's drama and openly displayed his jealousy toward her co-star. After using his influence as an advertiser to alter a romantic scene, he even introduced himself as "Shin Seori's biggest fan," highlighting the character's trademark straightforward charm.
The episode was not all sweetness, however. After learning that Seori had secretly met Choi Mundo (Jang Seung-jo), Cha Segye became consumed by anxiety and suspicion. Unable to control his emotions, he told her, "Whatever deal you made, I can give you more," revealing feelings that bordered on obsession. The confrontation quickly escalated into a major clash between the two.
At the emotional breaking point, Cha Segye finally let his guard down. Begging Seori not to leave him, he confessed, "No matter who you are or where you came from, I'll believe you," before pleading, "Don't pay attention to anyone else. Just look at me." His near-tearful confession exposed both the loneliness and sincerity hidden beneath his cold chaebol exterior.
The episode's highlight arrived with a tearful kiss. After confronting their misunderstandings and acknowledging each other's wounds, the two finally embraced their feelings. The emotionally charged scene sent viewers' heart rates soaring and instantly became another signature ending for the series.
The past-life storyline also gained momentum. While visiting a museum, Seori discovered paintings and traces left behind by Lee Hyun, finally understanding the depth of his feelings for her. The story of a woman who once suppressed her emotions to survive and a man who never had the chance to confess his love added another layer of poignancy to the narrative. Determined not to live with regret any longer, Seori resolved to follow her heart, raising anticipation for what comes next.
Meanwhile, Choi Mundo's frustration reached a boiling point after he was effectively pushed aside in the Cha Il Group succession battle and ordered to relocate to the company's U.S. branch. His growing hostility toward Cha Segye signaled that a much larger conflict is on the horizon.
The ratings reflected the drama's continued momentum. Episode 9 recorded a peak rating of 11.0% and a nationwide average of 9.5%, securing first place in its time slot and topping the weekly miniseries rankings. With both strong ratings and growing buzz, attention is now focused on what records "My Royal Nemesis" may set during its final stretch.
