A deep-dive museum program that allows visitors to hear the hidden stories behind cultural artifacts directly from experts has become a popular source of intellectual enrichment for weekday evening audiences. The National Museum of Korea's "Curator Talks" program brings together specialists in archaeology, art history, and conservation science to communicate the historical significance of artifacts through face-to-face discussions with visitors.

According to the National Museum of Korea, the June program consists of 12 academic interpretation sessions held across the museum complex, including special exhibition galleries, permanent exhibition halls, and the Conservation Science Center. To accommodate office workers and visitors unable to attend during daytime hours, the museum continues its Wednesday evening extended opening schedule from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

One of the highlights of June's program is the special exhibition Amazing Thailand: Masterpieces of Thai Art. The exhibition, the first in Korea to comprehensively explore Thai art from antiquity to the present day, will be accompanied by a curator-led session on June 24, where visitors can learn about the exhibition's planning concept and the art historical significance of its key works.

At the Prehistory and Ancient History Gallery on the first floor of the permanent exhibition hall, visitors can attend sessions including Climate Change and Human History, which examines early human adaptation to environmental change; The Formation and Growth of Samhan, focusing on the emergence of early Korean polities; The People Who Began Riding Horses, exploring social transformation through the spread of horse gear; The Discovery of the Tomb of King Muryeong, detailing one of Korea's most significant archaeological excavations; and The Gold Crowns of Silla, which analyzes symbols of ancient royal authority.

The Goryeo Gallery in the Medieval and Early Modern History Wing will host Bronze Mirrors of the Goryeo Dynasty, highlighting the material culture of the era's elite class.

The exploration continues across the museum's second and third floors. The Calligraphy and Painting Gallery presents Self-Consciousness of Joseon Scholars Through Kang Se-hwang's Self-Portrait, linking an artist's inner world with the social realities of his time. Meanwhile, the Donation Gallery offers Paintings Donated by Dongwon Lee Hong-geun, examining artistic traditions and iconography in modern Four Gracious Plants painting.

At the Sensory Exhibition Room in the Sculpture and Crafts Gallery, The Sound of the Bell of King Seongdeok the Great investigates the acoustic principles embedded within Korea's most famous bell. In the Central Asia Gallery of the World Cultures Wing, The History and Culture of Turpan introduces one of the Silk Road's most important cultural crossroads.

The program concludes with A New Beginning in Conservation Science, A Shared Future, held at the Conservation Science Center, where visitors can gain insight into the restoration and preservation processes normally inaccessible to the public.

Through these evening lectures, participants can engage with historical and anthropological perspectives in a broader context. By connecting artifacts with subjects ranging from the formation of ancient Korean states and the intellectual identity of Joseon scholars to intercultural trade networks and modern conservation science, visitors are offered a richer and more multidimensional understanding of history.
