Colony continued its commanding run at the Korean box office, becoming the fastest film of 2026 to surpass three million admissions while drawing nearly one million moviegoers over the weekend.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing network on June 1, Colony attracted 365,482 viewers on May 31 alone, securing the No. 1 position at the box office for an 11th consecutive day. Its cumulative admissions climbed to 3,474,934.
Over the three-day weekend period from May 29 to 31, the film sold an impressive 971,020 tickets, further cementing its status as the dominant force in Korean theaters.
The film had already surpassed the three-million-admission mark on May 30, just ten days after release, while simultaneously reaching its break-even point.
Directed by Yeon Sang Ho, Colony follows a group of survivors trapped inside a quarantined building during a mysterious outbreak, where the infected evolve into increasingly unpredictable and dangerous forms. The cast includes Jun Ji Hyun, Koo Kyo Hwan, Ji Chang Wook, Shin Hyun Been, Kim Shin Rok, and Ko Soo.
Holding firmly in second place was Backroom, which added 112,974 admissions on Sunday. Its cumulative total now stands at 391,129.
The film follows Clark and Mary as they encounter inexplicable events inside a bizarre labyrinth of yellow walls and endless fluorescent lights.
In third place was Michael, which drew 55,194 viewers and increased its cumulative admissions to 1,394,934. The biographical drama chronicles the life of Michael Jackson, tracing his rise from gifted performer to the King of Pop through his legendary music and groundbreaking performances.
Fourth place went to The Mandalorian and Grogu, which attracted 28,240 moviegoers for a cumulative total of 116,719 admissions.
The blockbuster adventure follows bounty hunter Din Djarin and Grogu as they embark on a galaxy-spanning mission that could change their destinies forever.
Rounding out the Top 5 was The Miraculous Snack Shop Zenitendo, which sold 27,551 tickets and reached a cumulative audience of 60,425.
Starring Ra Mi Ran and Lee Re, the fantasy drama centers on a mysterious confectionery shop that grants wishes to customers who arrive carrying a lucky coin.
