Filing for Love | Shin Hye Sun and Gong Myoung Become Life Partners

tvN's Filing for Love wrapped up its run by blending workplace drama, romance, and personal growth into a satisfying finale. As the characters overcame long-standing wounds and corporate turmoil, they ultimately chose new beginnings, bringing the series to a meaningful close both in ratings and audience buzz.

The final episode, which aired on May 31, followed Audit Team 3's last-ditch effort to stop the sale of Haemoo Group. At the center of the story were Joo In Ah (Shin Hye Sun) and Noh Ki Jun (Gong Myoung), who succeeded in protecting both the company and their relationship, completing the drama's journey from workplace colleagues to life partners.

The finale delivered strong ratings as well, reaching a peak of 11.3 percent in the Seoul metropolitan area and 10.8 percent nationwide. The series also topped its time slot across cable and general programming channels while maintaining solid momentum among viewers in the key 20-49 demographic.

The episode opened with mounting tension surrounding the proposed sale of Haemoo Group. Although Jeon Jae Yeol (Kim Jae Wook) initially appeared ready to step aside, Noh Ki Jun's persuasion prompted him to reconsider. Confronted once again with his long-held belief that "the things left undone become the greatest regrets," Jeon ultimately chose to stand with the company rather than walk away.

As the deadline approached, Audit Team 3 raced to secure support from scattered board members. Just when victory seemed within reach, a key director switched sides, threatening to derail their efforts. The turning point came when Joo In Ah uncovered an overlooked variable: Chairman Jeon Moo Tae's voting rights. Jeon Jae Yeol succeeded in convincing his father to act, and that decision became the decisive factor that changed everything. The motion to remove the CEO passed, the sale was blocked, and Haemoo Group entered a new chapter.

One of the drama's greatest strengths throughout its run was its balance between workplace tension and romance. The establishment of an independent audit department symbolized professional growth, while the characters each found new paths forward. Noh Ki Jun, who once dreamed only of escaping his circumstances, matured into a key manager within the team, while Joo In Ah remained at the helm of the audit office as its trusted leader.

The emotional centerpiece of the finale, however, was the relationship between Joo In Ah and Noh Ki Jun. Despite realistic concerns surrounding marriage and commitment, the two ultimately chose each other. When Joo In Ah suggested they build a life together, Noh Ki Jun accepted, marking the beginning of a new chapter in which they would navigate both work and love side by side. Their final scene, walking home hand in hand after work, symbolized the drama's message that ordinary days shared with the right person can be life's greatest reward.

Jeon Jae Yeol's arc also reached a meaningful conclusion. Once consumed by a bitter succession battle, he chose a fresh start through a medical foundation project. A business card handed to Park Ah Jung (Hong Hwa Yeon) hinted at reconciliation and the possibility of a new future.

The cast delivered strong performances across the board. Shin Hye Sun brought depth and nuance to Joo In Ah, balancing strength and vulnerability with remarkable precision. Gong Myoung successfully carried Noh Ki Jun's growth journey, while the chemistry between the two leads gave emotional credibility to the drama's evolving romance. Kim Jae Wook added complexity to Jeon Jae Yeol's inner conflicts, and Hong Hwa Yeon effectively portrayed a character torn between love and obsession.

The drama also found success beyond Korea. Filing for Love ranked among the top Korean dramas on the Japanese streaming platform U-NEXT and attracted significant international attention through Rakuten Viki, demonstrating its potential to connect with global audiences.

Rather than relying on grand conspiracies or excessive melodrama, Filing for Love focused on people fighting to protect the ordinary lives they valued. By maintaining its balance of humor, suspense, and romance until the very end, the series concluded as a workplace romance that delivered both heart and satisfaction.
