Ahead of Episode 3 of the MBC Friday-Saturday drama Fifties Professionals, airing on May 29, the production team released new stills showcasing a daring move by Jung Ho-myeong (Shin Ha-kyun). His target is Ma Gong-bok (Lee Hak-joo), a member of Kang Beom-ryong's (Heo Sung-tae) organization who works at a convenience store. By dragging a seemingly ordinary man out from the shadows, Jung Ho-myeong sends shockwaves through the balance of power.
In the newly released images, Jung Ho-myeong displays the cold precision of a former National Intelligence Service black operative as he pressures Ma Gong-bok. Bound and visibly terrified, Ma Gong-bok creates a stark contrast with his captor. The dangerous situation is paired with an oddly awkward atmosphere, highlighting the drama's signature blend of tension and black comedy.
Ma Gong-bok's identity also adds another layer of uncertainty. Having spent years observing Jung Ho-myeong while frequently visiting Oran Chinese Restaurant, he has remained obsessed with rebuilding his former organization and taking revenge on the traitor Yoo In-gu (Hyun Bong-sik). Now that he has fallen into Jung Ho-myeong's hands, the direction of his next decision could dramatically alter the relationships among the key players.
The production team hinted at the significance of the character's role, stating, "Ma Gong-bok's choice will have a major impact on the story moving forward. Please watch closely to see what decision he makes between his loyalty to Kang Beom-ryong and his new connection with Jung Ho-myeong."
As loyalties are tested and alliances begin to shift, viewers are left wondering whether Ma Gong-bok will remain faithful to his past or embrace an entirely new path.
