Director Yeon Sang-ho’s film Colony continues its overwhelming box office run even on weekdays.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing network on May 29, “Colony” drew 125,435 moviegoers on May 28 alone, remaining No. 1 at the box office for eight consecutive days. Its cumulative audience total has now reached 2,503,918.
“Colony” follows isolated survivors trapped inside a quarantined building during a mysterious outbreak, as they confront infected beings evolving into unpredictable forms. The film stars Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Shin-rok, and Ko Soo.
Backroom maintained second place with 33,234 viewers added on the same day. Its cumulative audience total stands at 87,869.
“Backroom” tells the story of Clark and Mary, who encounter unexplainable events inside a bizarre space filled with endless fluorescent lights and yellow walls.
Michael ranked third, attracting 18,581 moviegoers and reaching a cumulative total of 1,258,254 admissions.
“Michael” depicts the legendary music, electrifying performances, and extraordinary rise of Michael Jackson as he became the King of Pop through his innate musical genius.
Fourth place went to The Mandalorian and Grogu, which drew 12,037 viewers for a cumulative total of 39,671.
“The Mandalorian and Grogu” is a blockbuster adventure following bounty hunter Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, and the irresistibly adorable Grogu as they embark on a massive mission across the galaxy.
