While still relatively unfamiliar to mainstream audiences, Flowergam has built a strong presence within Korea’s subculture scene, boasting more than 200,000 YouTube subscribers.
Known for her unique background as a former professional gamer in Japan, Flowergam has earned recognition through her understanding of gaming culture, her ability to move between real-life and virtual personas, and her vocal talent showcased through original releases including Flowers Blooming in the Sky, Fine., Love Cupid, Moon Rabbit, and Dreaming Boat.
“It's something I'm truly happy about because I've been able to broaden the scope of my activities. I want to establish myself as a representative artist who bridges both real-world and virtual spaces.”
Those were the reflections of vocal creator Flowergam following a large-scale live performance that further cemented her identity as a hybrid artist operating across both physical and virtual platforms.
News Culture met Flowergam shortly after she completed her “Flowergam Special Live Stage” at Illustar Fes 11, held on May 24 at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 2 in Ilsan, Goyang.
The live performance marked another milestone following her surprise appearance at PlayX4 2026, demonstrating why she has become known as a communication icon capable of transcending the boundaries between reality and virtual entertainment.
Throughout the performance, Flowergam delivered a diverse setlist that included beloved anime and subculture favorites such as Butter-Fly, World Is Mine, Enma, Banquet Song, and Echo Mountain Ballad, alongside her original track Love Cupid. The stage showcased a seamless balance between her strengths as a virtual artist and her presence as a live performer.
Meeting a large audience in person left a powerful impression on her.
“I was surprised and thrilled to see so many people gathered in front of me,” she said. “I've held around ten fan meet-up events before, but this one felt especially different.”
For Flowergam, expanding beyond the virtual ecosystem was driven by a desire to share more dimensions of her artistry with audiences beyond a computer screen.
“I wanted to show more than just gaming content,” she explained. “I wanted people to experience my musical side and the many different aspects of who I am. That desire eventually led me to expand into both real-world broadcasting and virtual artist activities.”
The foundation supporting this dual identity comes from seven years of consistent experience as a streamer and creator.
This year, in particular, has become a turning point following her management agreement with ILLIO. Despite a demanding schedule that could easily become physically exhausting, she continues to maintain a steady professional mindset fueled by her passion for communicating with fans.
“For seven years I've enjoyed connecting with fans through various activities,” she said. “This year has been especially busy since signing a management contract with ILLIO. Managing multiple projects isn't always easy physically, but I feel fulfilled because I'm living purposefully and systematically.”
Flowergam’s hybrid approach also aligns closely with the rapid expansion of today’s subculture market, where the lines between virtual and real-world creators continue to blur.
For an artist who has spent years building her own identity and emotional connection with audiences, these industry shifts represent opportunities for even greater growth.
“Even today, there were fan events hosted by numerous cosplayers and virtual artists,” she said. “If these opportunities continue to grow, artists will have broader stages to express themselves, and we'll have even more ways to connect with fans and showcase different sides of our personalities.”
The successful large-scale live performance provided yet another source of confidence.
“This year has been more special and more ambitious than any of the previous seven years,” she said. “I'm happy to see those efforts gradually producing visible results.”
She concluded by sharing her vision for the future.
“I want to continue growing as an artist through even more diverse forms of communication,” she said. “Through large-scale fan events like this and through activities that bridge both virtual and real-world spaces, I hope to establish myself as one of the defining hybrid artists of this generation.”
Meanwhile, Illustar Fes 11, where Flowergam delivered her large-scale live performance, concluded on May 24 at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 2 in Goyang to enthusiastic audience response.
