BTS is preparing to make its first major award show appearance since returning as a full group, taking the stage at the American Music Awards in what many fans view as a symbolic comeback moment.
On May 21, BigHit Music confirmed, citing an official AMA announcement, that BTS will attend the “2026 AMA” ceremony scheduled for May 25 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
As one of America’s three major mainstream music awards shows, the AMA holds particular significance for BTS. Since winning Favorite Social Artist in 2018, the group has continued building a major presence at the ceremony, including becoming the first Korean act to win Artist of the Year in 2021. Last year, member RM also earned Favorite K-Pop Artist, bringing BTS’ cumulative AMA trophy count to 12.
This year’s ceremony is drawing even greater attention because it marks the group’s first collective award show appearance since resuming full-group activities. BTS has recently dominated major Billboard categories for eight consecutive weeks while generating strong global momentum through its ongoing world tour “ARIRANG.”
At the upcoming ceremony, BTS is nominated in three categories including Artist of the Year, where the group will compete against artists such as Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift. The group also received a nomination in Song of the Summer for its recent release “SWIM,” further raising anticipation over whether BTS can complete what many are calling a “comeback coronation” on one of America’s biggest music stages.
Meanwhile, BTS will continue its Las Vegas schedule with “BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ IN LAS VEGAS” concerts at Allegiant Stadium on May 23–24 and May 27–28.
