ENA’s growth-focused music project “THE SCOUT : Reborn Stars” is gaining momentum beyond Korea, drawing attention from overseas markets as a potential global music content IP. The program has surpassed 1.17 million cumulative global votes, while format inquiries from the UK, the U.S. and Japan continue to follow.
Ahead of its premiere, “The Scout” launched global voting on April 17. According to voting results counted through May 16, the program recorded a total of 1.17 million votes. Viewers are said to have strongly connected with the contestants’ journeys of growth and the heartfelt coaching delivered by the master lineup.
Under the slogan “Reborn Stars,” the program focuses on contestants seeking a second chance while emphasizing emotional storytelling distinct from conventional audition programs. The project has also drawn attention for being personally developed over nearly two years by Lee Seung-chul, widely known as one of Korea’s most experienced audition program judges.
Through the first two episodes, Lee Seung-chul has taken the lead alongside master members including Kim Jae-joong, Wendy and Young K, guiding 16 “muses” with tailored advice and coaching that has added momentum to the program.
International interest has become especially noticeable. According to the production team, inquiries regarding the show’s format have arrived from multiple countries including the UK, the U.S. and Japan. The response was reportedly amplified by contestant Lee San, whose Peruvian heritage and performances resonated strongly with overseas audiences.
To expand its global business strategy, the production team is set to sign an agreement on May 19 with format-specialized company Something Special, aiming to further develop “The Scout” into a global music content IP.
The production team stated, “Since the early stages of the broadcast, the program has received greater interest than expected from viewers both in Korea and overseas. The growth stories of the muses and the sincerity of the masters seem to be connecting well with audiences. As global format inquiries continue, we will do our best to showcase the competitiveness of Korean music content.”
Meanwhile, attention is growing over what kind of artists “The Scout,” which has positioned itself apart from existing audition programs under Lee Seung-chul’s leadership, will ultimately produce.
