Yoon Chang-geun has officially stepped into the music scene with his first solo album “Nevertheless,” a restrained folk record built on lived experience rather than spectacle.
Released on May 13, the album focuses less on elaborate production and more on the strength of voice and storytelling. Rooted in folk-based arrangements, the record traces the instability, endurance and quiet resilience embedded in everyday life.
The title track “Nevertheless” directly confronts the emotions suspended between giving up and starting again. Against a restrained guitar line, Yoon’s warm low-register vocals move without exaggeration, gradually deepening the emotional weight of the song through their simplicity alone.
Another track, “Tomorrow Will Shine,” offers a lighter emotional contrast to the title song. Built around an easy melody and hopeful lyrics, the track extends a small sense of comfort at the end of an exhausting day, balancing the overall emotional tone of the album.
Rather than emerging through flashy stages or rapid success, Yoon Chang-geun’s journey has been defined by persistence. There were periods when he had to step away from music for financial reasons, but he continued writing and practicing alongside work until the album was finally completed.
“Although the dream was paused for a long time, that allowed me to sing more honestly,” Yoon said. “Even the time I thought was too late eventually became music.”
With understated sound design and realistic lyrics, “Nevertheless” leaves the impression of a life quietly translated into music. Instead of delivering grand declarations, the album approaches listeners through recognizable emotions and lingering warmth.
For those who once believed it might already be too late, Yoon Chang-geun’s music offers a quiet but unmistakable sense of direction as he prepares for the next chapter in his own voice.
