Super Mario Galaxy has taken control of the holiday box office, narrowly holding off The Devil Wears Prada 2 to remain at No.1 for a second consecutive day.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system on May 3, Super Mario Galaxy drew 157,843 viewers on May 2, maintaining the top spot. Its cumulative audience has reached 499,472.
The animated sequel follows Mario and Luigi, who evolved from ordinary plumbers in New York into world-saving heroes, as they team up with new characters including Yoshi and embark on a larger interstellar adventure across diverse worlds.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 ranked second with 153,933 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 590,985.
The sequel reunites Miranda, the legendary editor-in-chief of fashion magazine Runway, with Andy, who returns as a features editor after 20 years, alongside Emily, now an executive at a luxury brand. Together, they navigate a transformed media landscape in a fierce battle for influence in the fashion industry.
Salmokji placed third with 128,030 viewers, pushing its cumulative total to 2,512,387.
The horror film follows a mysterious figure captured on a road-view image at Salmokji, leading a film crew back to a reservoir for reshoots, where they encounter something lurking in the dark depths of the water.
Project Hail Mary ranked fourth with 31,575 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 2,618,065.
The film centers on a scientist who wakes up alone aboard a spacecraft with no memory and must carry out a final mission to prevent humanity’s extinction. It is based on the novel by Andy Weir, author of The Martian.
AUDITION 109 placed fifth with 24,198 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 273,382.
The film follows “Jjang-gu” (Jung Woo), an aspiring actor who persists through repeated setbacks, driven by his dream of becoming an actor.
