"Perfect Crown" enters a new emotional phase as Byeon Woo-seok’s character faces the pressure of meeting his future in-laws for the first time.
In Episode 7 of MBC’s "Perfect Crown," airing May 1, Prince Ian (Byeon Woo-seok) visits the home of his fiancée Seong Hee-joo (IU), confronting the reality of preparing for royal marriage beyond palace walls. Although the couple has already been officially recognized under the king’s approval, an entirely different tension unfolds within the private space of family.
Following the emotional proposal arc from earlier episodes, the relationship between Ian and Hee-joo had rapidly moved toward marriage. This time, however, the challenge comes not from the royal court but from Hee-joo’s family, particularly her father Seong Hyun-guk (Jo Seung-yeon), head of Castle Group.
The atmosphere revealed in newly released stills is visibly tense. Hee-joo struggles to relax in front of her family, while Prince Ian carefully tries to maintain composure and earn the trust of his future father-in-law. But the uneasy dinner quickly spirals into chaos after Hee-joo suddenly leaves the table, freezing the atmosphere instantly.
As years of unresolved conflict between Hee-joo and her father erupt once again, attention now turns to how Ian will handle the situation. Caught between royal dignity and the responsibilities of becoming part of the family, his response could determine the future of their relationship.
The production team stated, “This episode becomes an important turning point as the two characters directly confront each other’s worlds,” adding, “Viewers should pay attention to what kind of sincerity Prince Ian shows in trying to break through Seong Hyun-guk’s emotional walls.”
