Korean theaters are entering one of their busiest periods in recent years, fueled by the success of The King and the Man, Salmokji, and The Devil Wears Prada 2.

As audiences steadily return to cinemas, May’s “Family Month” season brings a wide range of releases spanning animation, comedy, horror, action, and fantasy.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, Michael chronicles the rise of Michael Jackson from musical prodigy to global icon.

The film revisits Jackson’s legendary performances and music catalog, while its first trailer surpassed 116 million views within 24 hours of release.

Produced by Graham King of Bohemian Rhapsody fame, the project stars Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson’s real-life nephew, in the lead role.

Directed by Yeon Sang-ho, Colony centers on survivors trapped inside a sealed building during a mysterious infection outbreak involving evolving infected beings.

The project has drawn attention since production for its cast lineup featuring Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Shin-rok, and Go Soo.

Following Train to Busan and Peninsula, Yeon once again expands his zombie universe with the concept of “evolving zombies,” introducing a new species that reflects contemporary anxieties.
