Salmokji continues to dominate the box office, tightening its grip on the top spot as it closes in on the 2 million milestone.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system on April 27, Salmokji drew 109,081 viewers on April 25, extending its No.1 streak to 19 consecutive days. Its cumulative audience has reached 1,983,763. Over the weekend period from April 24 to 26, the film attracted 343,463 viewers, maintaining its overwhelming momentum.
The horror film follows a mysterious figure captured on a road-view image at Salmokji, leading a film crew back to a reservoir for reshoots, where they encounter something lurking in the dark depths of the water.
Project Hail Mary held second place with 46,553 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 2,490,902.
The film centers on a scientist who wakes up alone aboard a spacecraft with no memory and must carry out a final mission to prevent humanity’s extinction. It is based on the novel by Andy Weir, author of The Martian.
AUDITION 109, the sequel to Wind, placed third with 42,065 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 163,898.
The film follows “Jjang-gu” (Jung Woo), an aspiring actor who persists through repeated setbacks, driven by his dream of becoming an actor.
Ran 12.3, directed by Lee Myung-se, ranked fourth with 28,349 viewers, reaching a cumulative total of 133,648.
The documentary captures the tense on-site moments of those who stepped forward to defend democracy following the sudden declaration of martial law on December 3, 2024.
The King's Warden placed fifth with 25,085 viewers, pushing its cumulative total to 16,706,830. The film remains No.2 on the all-time Korean box office chart, surpassing Extreme Job (16,266,641).
Set in 1457 at Cheongnyeongpo, the film tells the story of a village leader who voluntarily chooses exile for the revival of his community and a young deposed king sent into exile.
