Salmokji continues its dominant run at the box office, fueled by strong word of mouth.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system on April 25, Salmokji drew 86,533 viewers on April 24, holding the No.1 position for 17 consecutive days. Its cumulative audience has reached 1,726,835.
The horror film follows a mysterious figure captured on a road-view image at Salmokji, leading a film crew back to a reservoir for reshoots, where they encounter something lurking in the dark depths of the water.
Project Hail Mary climbed to second place with 26,138 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 2,388,058.
The film centers on a scientist who wakes up alone aboard a spacecraft with no memory and must carry out a final mission to prevent humanity’s extinction. It is based on the novel by Andy Weir, author of The Martian.
AUDITION 109, the sequel to Wind, dropped to third place with 24,822 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 77,354.
The film follows “Jjang-gu” (Jung Woo), an aspiring actor who persists through repeated setbacks, driven by his dream of becoming an actor.
Ran 12.3, directed by Lee Myung-se, placed fourth with 17,228 viewers, reaching a cumulative total of 72,537.
The documentary captures the tense on-site moments of those who stepped forward to defend democracy following the sudden declaration of martial law on December 3, 2024.
The King's Warden ranked fifth with 14,699 viewers, pushing its cumulative total to 16,654,360. The film remains No.2 on the all-time Korean box office chart, surpassing Extreme Job (16,266,641).
Set in 1457 at Cheongnyeongpo, the film tells the story of a village leader who voluntarily chooses exile for the revival of his community and a young deposed king sent into exile.
