The film “Salmokji” remained at the top of the box office for three consecutive days.
According to the Korean Film Council integrated ticketing system on April 11, “Salmokji” drew 111,768 moviegoers on April 10, ranking No. 1 at the box office. Its cumulative audience reached 299,353.
“Salmokji” is a horror film that follows a filming crew who head to a reservoir for a reshoot after an unidentified figure is captured on a road-view camera near Salmokji, only to encounter something lurking in the dark waters. The film stars Kim Hye-yoon, Lee Jong-won, Kim Jun-han, Kim Young-sung, Oh Dong-min, Yoon Jae-chan, and Jang Da-a.
“Project Hail Mary” ranked No. 2 with 56,305 admissions, bringing its cumulative total to 1,823,096.
The film tells the story of a scientist who wakes up alone on a spacecraft with no memory and must carry out a final mission to prevent humanity’s extinction. It is based on a novel by Andy Weir.
“The King’s Warden” ranked No. 3 with an additional 38,717 viewers, bringing its cumulative audience to 16,260,722.
Having surpassed 10 million viewers in just 31 days since its release, the film is expected to overtake “Extreme Job” (16,266,641) on April 11 to become the second highest-grossing film of all time.
“The King’s Warden” is set in 1457 at Cheongnyeongpo and tells the story of a village leader who voluntarily chooses exile for the sake of his village and a young dethroned king who is also sent into exile.
“We Live in Time” ranked No. 4 with 3,657 admissions, bringing its cumulative total to 13,368.
The film follows chef Almut (Florence Pugh) and Tobias (Andrew Garfield), whose chance encounter changes their lives over a span of ten years.
“The Ultimate Duo” ranked No. 5 with 2,770 viewers, bringing its cumulative audience to 78,413.
The film depicts a detective transferred to a rural area who is given one last chance and travels to Seoul with a rookie detective to uncover the real culprit behind a murder case involving two suspects.
