A 2,000-year-old gumiho and a human shaman collide in a fantasy romance built on fate and unpredictability. JTBC’s upcoming drama “Human X Gumiho (WT)” is already drawing attention with its high-profile ensemble cast.
The series centers on the encounter between a seductive supernatural being who ensnares humans and a man who attracts mystical forces. Structured around an unpredictable “X” variable, the story blends fantasy, romance, and comedy through intersecting destinies.
Jun Ji-hyun plays Gu Ja-hong, a top actress who is secretly a 2,000-year-old gumiho. Accustomed to manipulating humans at will, her dominance begins to falter when she meets Choi Seok, the only man immune to her powers.
Ji Chang-wook stars as Choi Seok, a skilled shaman and director of the Oseong Museum. Beneath his easygoing demeanor lies a rare sensitivity to supernatural forces, setting the stage for an unpredictable connection with Gu Ja-hong.
The supporting cast adds further depth. Cha Joo-young takes on Ji Woo-kyung, the only person aware of Gu Ja-hong’s identity. Kang You-seok plays Go Tae-seung, Choi Seok’s longtime friend, while Kim Jong-soo appears as his grandfather Man-gwan. Kim Min-seok transforms into “Beomi,” a centuries-old tiger spirit living freely among humans.
Special appearances elevate the scale. Hwang In-yeop plays “Sami,” a three-legged dog spirit and natural enemy of the gumiho. Kim Seol-hyun appears as “Yeon-i,” a memory-keeping spirit, while Lee Jae-in portrays “Bang-sang,” an ancient being in youthful form.
Directed by Kim Jung-sik and written by Im Mea-ri, the drama pairs a proven creative team with a powerful cast. “Human X Gumiho (WT)” is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated dramas of the year.
