Phantom Lawyer delivered one of its most explosive episodes yet, with Yoo Yeon-seok driving a cathartic breakthrough through a bold and unconventional strategy.
Episode 6, aired on March 28, opened with Shin Yi-rang clearing his name after a critical flaw was uncovered in the prosecution’s key evidence. Forensic results confirmed that the fingerprint on the glove had been left during the discovery of the body, not during the crime itself, resetting the entire case.
Instead of stepping back, Shin Yi-rang pressed forward. Defying his mother Park Kyung-hwa’s concerns, he reaffirmed his role as a “ghost-specialist lawyer,” choosing once again to confront the voices of the unjustly dead.
The case deepened around the death of Jeon Sang-ho. Through possession, he confronted his wife and revealed memories only the two shared, pulling buried truths to the surface. In that process, Kim Soo-jung’s hidden story emerged. Her confession was not meant to shield the real culprit, but a desperate attempt to protect her sick mother.
The investigation took a sharper turn. Han Na-hyun, played by Lee Som, made a calculated decision to weaponize Shin Yi-rang’s abnormal perception as part of the investigative strategy, approaching the case with precision rather than emotion.
All signs pointed to senior researcher Goo Hyo-jung. Sedatives hidden in chamomile tea, irregular attack patterns revealed in the autopsy, and behavioral traits linked to impaired vision aligned to form a clear profile. Combined with internal power struggles and personal motives, the case rapidly narrowed.
Then came the turning point.
Shin Yi-rang constructed a psychological trap, transforming the laboratory into a staged “haunted space.” Disguised as a shaman, he pushed the suspect to the edge, weaponizing fear itself. Under mounting pressure, Goo Hyo-jung finally broke, delivering a decisive confession.
The scene peaked as Jeon Sang-ho’s emotions surged once more through possession. His anguish, driven by injustice and betrayal, brought the narrative to its most intense moment.
The resolution offered a quieter, emotional release. Jeon completed a treatment as his final act, leaving hope for his family. The medicine ultimately saved Kim Soo-jung’s mother, allowing him to depart in peace.
Shin Yi-rang, too, changed. Through the case, he came to recognize the value of those who stand beside him, marking a clear step in his personal growth. But the calm was short-lived.
The episode closed with a new disturbance. A strange presence detected on a rooftop signaled the beginning of another case, pushing the story once again into unknown territory.
With rising ratings and sustained buzz, the series continues to build momentum, raising expectations for what comes next.
