Talk of ceasefire continues, but the cost has already been paid in lives. Even if the war ends, its scars will remain. Across the world, the tragedy is still unfolding.
“Something we must not look away from.”
The Voice of Hind Rajab (2025) is not a story from the past. It is a reconstruction of what happened on January 29, 2024, in Gaza, built around the real voice of a six-year-old girl trapped alone in a bombed vehicle.
“They are shooting at me. Please come and get me.”
During the Israel-Hamas conflict, Palestinian girl Hind Rajab made a desperate call for help as gunfire surrounded her. The Palestinian Red Crescent attempted a rescue just eight minutes away, but the operation stretched into five hours. The film reconstructs the event through real call recordings, compressing the brutality of war into a single, unflinching narrative.
Premiering at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, the film drew a 23-minute standing ovation, one of the longest in the festival’s history. It won the Jury Prize and was later nominated for Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards.
Director Kaouther Ben Hania said, “I am grateful that cinema is recognized not only as an escape, but as a reflection of reality. This is about what is happening now, something we cannot ignore.”
The film’s executive producers include Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Alfonso Cuarón, and Jonathan Glazer.
In Korea, So Ji-sub and Bae Doona contributed to the narration teaser, further amplifying attention.
The Voice of Hind Rajab opens April 15.
