Actor Kim Nam-gil is set to return to the music scene with a new single that captures his own musical sensibility, marking his first official release in 16 years. More than a one-off project, the release signals a deliberate step back into music, reinforcing the “singer instinct” he has consistently demonstrated on stage.
According to Brotherhood Entertainment and Gilstory ENT on March 25, Kim’s new single “I'm Going to You” will be released on March 26.
The track is produced by hitmaker duo Rocoberry, known for songs such as Jo Jazz’s “Don’t You Know” and Ailee’s “I Will Go to You Like the First Snow.” Built on a rock sound, the song highlights Kim’s powerful yet refreshing vocal tone.
Rather than positioning the release as a formal debut, the single represents an extension of Kim’s long-standing musical activities. It also serves as a starting point for a broader music project centered on his rock-based artistic direction.
The significance is heightened by the fact that this is his first domestic single since “Can't I Love You?” in 2010, making it a meaningful milestone in his career.
Kim has previously showcased his vocal ability through the drama “Yawang” OST “You Don't Understand” in 2013, as well as his Japanese single “Roman.” Through numerous solo fan meetings, including the charity event “The Strongest Show in the Universe,” he has consistently delivered emotionally charged live performances, further solidifying his identity as an artist.
Industry attention is now focused on the synergy between Kim’s accumulated musical depth and Rocoberry’s production, and how their collaboration will shape the final sound and image of the track.
Kim Nam-gil will also hold his 2026 fan meeting “G.I.L” on March 28 at KBS Arena in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, where he is scheduled to perform “I'm Going to You” live for the first time.
