“The King’s Warden (2026)” continues its run toward the 15 million mark, though its daily audience count has dropped noticeably compared to the previous week.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system, the film drew 85,715 viewers on March 22, maintaining its No.1 position. Its cumulative total now stands at 14,842,823.
After surpassing 10 million admissions in just 31 days, the film climbed to No.3 on Korea’s all-time box office chart, overtaking “Ode to My Father” and “Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds.” Attention is now focused on whether it can surpass “Extreme Job” and “The Admiral: Roaring Currents.”
Set in 1457 Cheongnyeongpo, the story follows a village leader who voluntarily chooses exile for the sake of his community and a young dethroned king cast into exile. As the first Korean film to explore the hidden narrative of King Danjong, it has gained strong word of mouth, powered by performances from Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, Jeon Mi-do, and Kim Min.
Meanwhile, the Ryan Gosling-led sci-fi “Project Hail Mary,” distributed overseas by Sony Pictures and released in March 2026, held second place with 42,557 daily viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 603,922.
Based on the novel by Andy Weir, author of “The Martian,” the film follows a scientist who awakens alone aboard a spacecraft with no memory and must carry out a final mission to prevent humanity’s extinction.
In third place, “Hoppers” added 3,856 viewers, reaching a cumulative 650,283. The animated adventure follows a girl transformed into a robotic beaver through “hopping” technology as she infiltrates a mysterious animal world.
Actor Lee Dong-hwi’s “Method Acting” ranked fourth with 2,769 viewers, bringing its total to 46,491. The film follows a comedic actor who becomes obsessively immersed in a role in pursuit of serious recognition.
Rounding out the top five, the re-release “Attack on Titan: The Final Season – The Last Attack” drew 2,408 viewers, pushing its cumulative total to 991,829.
