JTBC’s weekend drama The Practical Guide to Love saw its central romance intensify as Lee Ki-taek made a decisive move, shaking Han Ji-min’s emotions and shifting the balance of the love triangle.
Episode 7, aired on March 21, followed Lee Ui-young (Han Ji-min) growing closer to Shin Ji-soo (Lee Ki-taek), while Song Tae-seop (Park Sung-hoon) began to lose his footing. The episode recorded a nationwide rating of 3.9%, down from 4.5% the previous week, according to Nielsen Korea.
Ui-young was stunned to learn that her favorite restaurant owner, Lee Soon-joo (Oh Min-ae), is Tae-seop’s mother. The revelation pushed her to confront the reality that their relationship had extended beyond romance into family territory, even sparking a humorous moment as she imagined her future preparing chicken feet.
Trying to clear her head, Ui-young later encountered Ji-soo, who revealed he had left his theater group. His quiet confession about growing up without parental support added new weight to their interaction.
The situation escalated when Ui-young discovered that top actress Son Jung-ah (Moon Jung-hee) had been romantically involved with Ji-soo’s father, making Ji-soo her stepson. Realizing the meaning behind his words, Ui-young sought him out and found him at a memorial site on his mother’s death anniversary.
Standing by him in the rain, Ui-young offered comfort, becoming a source of support in his most vulnerable moment. Moved by her presence, Ji-soo later opened up over dinner, confessing both his past and his inability to believe in love.
After walking her home, Ji-soo delivered a direct confession: “I like you.” His honesty, along with his resolve to pursue acting and his candid plans for the future, deeply stirred Ui-young.
But the moment was cut short by Tae-seop’s sudden arrival, igniting visible tension among the three. With emotions now laid bare, all eyes are on how Ui-young will navigate the growing conflict.
