The Korean box office is being reshaped by The King's Warden, which has climbed to No.3 on the all-time admissions chart.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system, the film drew 346,555 viewers on Saturday, maintaining its No.1 position. Its cumulative total now stands at 14,447,740 admissions.
After surpassing 10 million viewers in just 31 days, the film has sustained its momentum, overtaking Ode to My Father (14.26M) and Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds (14.41M). Attention is now turning to whether it can surpass Extreme Job (16.26M) and challenge The Admiral: Roaring Currents (17.61M).
Set in Cheongnyeongpo in 1457, the film follows a village head who voluntarily enters exile and a young deposed king sent away from the throne. By foregrounding a lesser-known chapter of King Danjong’s story, the film has gained strong word-of-mouth, driven by performances from Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do.
In second place, Project Hail Mary drew 190,036 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 400,623.
Based on the novel by Andy Weir, the film follows a scientist who awakens alone on a spacecraft with no memory and must complete a final mission to save humanity.
Hoppers ranked third with 40,650 admissions, reaching a cumulative total of 606,574.
Re-release Attack on Titan: The Last Attack added 10,157 viewers for fourth place (979,639 total), while Lee Dong-hwi’s Method Acting placed fifth with 9,772 admissions (35,130 total).
