RM of BTS will take the stage despite a sudden ankle injury, choosing to honor his promise to fans, ARMY.
According to BigHit Music on March 20, RM sustained an injury during rehearsals for “BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG” on March 19. The news was confirmed on the same day as the group’s fifth full-length album release, adding an unexpected concern for fans worldwide.
Medical examinations revealed that RM suffered a navicular bone sprain, partial ligament tear, and a talus contusion. Doctors advised that he should wear a leg cast and minimize movement for at least two weeks to focus on recovery.
Despite the severity of the injury, RM expressed a strong desire to perform and meet fans who had been waiting. The upcoming stage holds particular significance as it marks BTS’s first full-group appearance in 3 years and 9 months, set against the symbolic backdrop of Gwanghwamun.
BigHit Music stated that while prioritizing the artist’s health and medical advice, they have decided to respect RM’s determination. He will participate in the performance with minimized choreography and limited movement, delivering his message to fans within a controlled range.
RM’s decision to go on stage despite the setback reflects the core themes of unity and sincerity embedded in BTS’s fifth album “ARIRANG.”
BTS released their fifth full-length album “ARIRANG” globally on March 20 and will hold a comeback live event at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul on March 21.
