Go Ah-sung is stepping into live comedy for the first time in her 22-year career, joining Coupang Play’s “SNL Korea” Season 8 as the host of its second episode.
Debuting in 2004, Go rose to prominence with Bong Joon-ho’s “The Host” (2006), delivering a performance far beyond her age and quickly earning recognition as a “ten-million actor.” She has since built a diverse filmography through works including “Snowpiercer,” Cannes-invited “Office,” “A Resistance,” “Samjin Company English Class,” and most recently the romance title “Pavane,” proving her versatility across genres.
Her previous roles have hinted at a strong comedic instinct, from her Seoul dialect performance in the drama “Life on Mars” to her unexpected charm in the variety show “Edward Lee’s Country Cook.” Viewers are now anticipating how her offbeat and lively energy, often hidden behind her clear-eyed image, will translate on the “SNL Korea” stage.
“I never imagined I would stand on stage as a host of ‘SNL Korea’ Season 8,” Go said. “It’s my first time doing live comedy, so I’m both nervous and excited. I’ll try to act even through my eyes with a bright energy, so I hope you’ll watch warmly.”
Alongside Go’s bold transformation, the episode will feature the show’s core crew including Shin Dong-yup, Jung Sang-hoon, Jung Sung-ho, Kim Min-kyo, Ahn Young-mi, Jung Yi-rang, Lee Soo-ji, Kwon Hyuk-soo, Kim Won-hoon, Ji Ye-eun, and Kim Gyu-won, as well as newly joined members.
Go Ah-sung’s episode of “SNL Korea” Season 8 will be released on April 4 at 8 p.m.
