MBC’s upcoming drama "Perfect Crown" has confirmed its premiere for April 10, raising anticipation for the spring lineup. Scheduled with a special broadcast time 10 minutes earlier than usual, the series unfolds in a fictional “21st-century constitutional monarchy Korea,” presenting a unique romantic premise.
In the drama, IU plays Seong Hee-ju, a commoner with a determined personality and a strong sense of ambition despite her modest background. Byeon Woo-seok portrays Grand Prince Ian, the king’s second son who must confront the sorrow of possessing royal status while being unable to claim what he truly desires.
The newly released couple poster captures Seong Hee-ju and Grand Prince Ian gazing toward one another as if walking toward a shared destination. Their expressions convey both determination and quiet excitement, while traditional Korean attire and accessories evoke the elegance of a wedding photoshoot.
The production team said, "Although Seong Hee-ju and Grand Prince Ian may appear perfect on the surface, both carry emotional voids shaped by their status and environment. Beginning with a contract marriage, their story follows how they overcome their limits and eventually share the same dream."
Set within a modern constitutional monarchy, the drama follows a woman born a commoner who appears to have everything yet must endure hidden discomforts, and a prince who possesses royal status but cannot truly claim anything for himself. Their fate-defying romance begins this April.
