Anticipation is steadily building for the 4K remastered release of the theatrical feature Detective Conan The Last Wizard of the Century.
As the film prepares for its first-ever theatrical release in Korean cinemas, fan excitement has reached a peak. The main trailer has surpassed 2.5 million views, while the Kaitou Kid teaser has exceeded 4 million views, bringing the combined total to 6.5 million and signaling strong box office momentum.
Detective Conan began serialization in 1994 and has since surpassed 270 million copies in cumulative manga circulation worldwide. The franchise celebrates the 30th anniversary of its TV anime broadcast this year. Its annual theatrical releases have also demonstrated remarkable staying power. Beginning with Detective Conan Black Iron Submarine in 2023, the series has recorded box office revenues exceeding 10 billion yen in Japan for three consecutive years. From 2024, it achieved over 10 million admissions for two straight years, and in 2024 the cumulative total admissions for the film series surpassed 100 million, reaffirming its enduring popularity.
In Korea, Detective Conan Black Iron Submarine, Detective Conan The Million-dollar Pentagram, and Detective Conan The Scarlet Alibi all ranked No. 1 at the overall box office on their respective opening days for three consecutive years, firmly establishing the franchise as a reliable theatrical draw.
Detective Conan The Last Wizard of the Century centers on a high-stakes battle of wits between Conan and Kaitou Kid, who sets his sights on the Romanov dynasty’s final treasure, the “Memories Egg.” Widely regarded by fans as a timeless legend within the franchise, the film also became the first Detective Conan movie to top the Japanese box office upon release.
The film opens exclusively at CGV on February 27.
