“The King’s Warden” continued its dominant run at the Korean box office, maintaining its firm hold on the No. 1 position with overwhelming audience turnout.
According to the Korean Film Council’s Integrated Computer Network on February 20, the film drew 239,792 moviegoers on February 19 alone, securing first place. Its cumulative total has reached 4,414,705 admissions.
After surpassing 3 million viewers in just 14 days and reaching its break-even point, “The King’s Warden” crossed the 4 million mark on its 15th day in theaters. This pace is faster than “The King and the Clown,” the first historical Korean film to surpass 10 million admissions.
Set in Cheongnyeongpo in 1457, the film tells the story of a village chief who voluntarily chooses exile for the sake of his community and a young deposed king forced into exile. Directed by Jang Hang-jun, the film features a powerful ensemble cast including Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, Jeon Mi-do, and Kim Min.
“Humint” ranked second with 54,837 viewers on the same day, bringing its cumulative total to 1,339,674 admissions.
The film unfolds in Vladivostok, where individuals with different objectives collide in a frozen and unforgiving environment. Directed by Ryoo Seung-wan, the film stars Jo In-sung, Park Jung-min, Shin Se-kyung, and Park Hae-joon.
“Number One (2025)” climbed to third place with 10,762 daily viewers, reaching a cumulative total of 198,607 admissions.
The film follows Ha-min, who begins seeing numbers decrease whenever he eats food made by his mother. When he learns that the number reaching zero means her death, he struggles to protect her.
New release “App the Horror” ranked fourth with 9,179 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 28,084 admissions.
The film depicts eerie events that unfold after high school club students develop a ghost-detection app called “Yeong,” which breaks a forbidden seal.
“Choir of God” fell to fifth place with 8,482 daily viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 1,307,700 admissions.
The film tells the story of a fabricated praise troupe created in North Korea to earn foreign currency.
