Actor Choi Dae Chul, often dubbed the “Park Bo Gum of weekend dramas,” will reveal the hard fought survival strategy and eight drama credits he built entirely on his own without agency representation.
The February 18 broadcast of MBC’s Radio Star will feature Uhm Ji Won, Choi Dae Chul, Kim Johahn, and Baek Jin Kyung in a special Lunar New Year themed episode titled “Grasping the End of This Lunar New Year.”
During the episode, Choi commands attention with his confident declaration, “I am the Park Bo Gum of weekend dramas,” as he explains how he secured roles in eight weekend series, including Please Take Care of the Five Eagle Brothers. His self casting methods, achieved without an agency or manager, and his personal techniques for landing roles are expected to resonate strongly, even surprising fellow actors with their realism.
Choi also opens up about his meaningful relationships with fellow actors. He shares stories about working with Ahn Jae Wook and Kim Dong Wan, including a touching moment when Kim surprised him by attending his daughter’s graduation and taking photos together. The story highlights the enduring loyalty and warmth that define his bonds within the industry.
His sincere effort to overcome stage trauma will also be revealed. After suffering a traumatic on stage mistake in the past, Choi has spent the past four years auditioning in hopes of returning to what he calls his “dream stage.” His performance on the show is expected to deliver a deeply emotional moment for viewers.
Radio Star is a signature talk show known for bringing out authentic stories from its guests and airs every Wednesday night.
