JTBC’s Hidden Singer 8 has completed another star-studded lineup of original artists. Indie icon 10CM and 1990s diva Kim Hyun-jung have confirmed their appearances, heightening anticipation for the new season.
Ahead of its broadcast in the first half of this year, Hidden Singer 8 previously drew attention by unveiling a diverse roster spanning generations and genres, including Sim Soo-bong, Ha Hyun-woo, Lee Seung-gi, and Younha. With the addition of 10CM and Kim Hyun-jung, the program signals an even broader musical spectrum.
Known for having a “fingerprint-like vocal tone,” 10CM has long been considered an artist whose voice is difficult to imitate, making his participation highly anticipated. Through the teaser, he expressed both excitement and confidence, saying it had been a long-held wish in his career while adding that he had “never seen anyone who sounds like me.” He further challenged contestants with a provocative remark. “It’s hard to sing like me. Try your best. It won’t work.”
Kim Hyun-jung, the voice behind numerous chart-topping hits that once swept the nation, will also take the stage. Having maintained her presence for nearly 30 years since her debut, she shared her excitement, saying it feels like returning to her 20-year-old self. Highlighting her signature high notes, distinct vocal style, and iconic choreography such as the long-armed monkey dance, penguin dance, and whirlwind dance, she hinted at a performance that transcends generations. She added her determination to break through the ceiling of the stage with the energy of that era.
Prior to the broadcast, a special listening test event will also take place. Sim Soo-bong, Kim Jang-hoon, Younha, Davichi’s Lee Hae-ri, IU, and Lim Young-woong will participate as question setters. Participants will listen to audio clips and identify the real singer, with the event running from February 17 to March 2 via JTBC’s official Instagram.
