[NC Box Office] “Humint” Opens at No. 1 with 116,747 on Day One as “Number One ” Starts No. 3

“Humint” rose to the top of the box office on its opening day.

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system on Feb. 12, the film drew 116,747 moviegoers on Feb. 11, ranking No. 1. Its cumulative admissions reached 131,632.

Set in Vladivostok, where both secrets and truths sink into the icy sea, “Humint” follows individuals with different motives as they collide. Directed by Ryu Seung-wan, the film stars Zo In-sung, Park Jung-min, Shin Se-kyung and Park Hae-joon.

“The King’s Warden” slipped to No. 2, drawing 86,924 viewers on the day. Its cumulative total climbed to 1,281,991 admissions.

Set in 1457 at Cheongnyeongpo, the film tells the story of a village chief who chooses exile for the revival of his community and a young deposed king sent into banishment. The film is directed by Jang Hang-jun and stars Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, Jeon Mi-do and Kim Min.

“Number One ” opened at No. 3 with 17,232 admissions on its first day, bringing its cumulative total to 37,321.

The story follows Ha-min, who begins seeing a number decrease each time he eats his mother’s cooking. When he learns that his mother Eun-sil will die when the number reaches zero, he struggles to protect her. The film stars Choi Woo-shik and Jang Hye-jin.

In fourth place, “Wuthering Heights” drew 10,480 moviegoers on its opening day, bringing its cumulative total to 110,623. The film portrays the intense and destructive love between Cathy and Heathcliff, who long for each other yet cannot be together.

Rounding out the top five, “Choir of God” drew 7,922 viewers, reaching a cumulative total of 1,150,881 admissions. The film depicts events that unfold after a fake praise troupe is formed in North Korea to earn foreign currency.
