Park Bo-gum pushed through an unexpected injury on the latest episode of tvN’s variety show The Village Barber, turning the team’s first business day into a whirlwind of mishaps, laughter, and last-minute tension.
Aired on February 6, episode two followed Park Bo-gum, Lee Sang-yi, and Kwak Dong-yeon as they tackled their opening day running a village barbershop. From elementary school children to seniors in their 90s, customers poured in nonstop, quickly turning the shop into the neighborhood’s new gathering spot. The episode recorded a nationwide average rating of 3.1 percent, peaking at 3.7 percent, ranking first in its time slot among cable and general programming channels.
Trouble struck early. As customers lined up one after another, Park Bo-gum, still a rookie barber, rushed to keep up the pace. Despite practicing alone until dawn the night before opening, he made a painful mistake, cutting his finger with scissors and bleeding heavily mid-service.
Trying not to alarm the customer, Park Bo-gum initially hid the injury. But when the bleeding would not stop, he quietly sent an SOS to Lee Sang-yi. In perfect teamwork, Lee prepared first aid while Kwak Dong-yeon distracted the customer, allowing the situation to be handled discreetly and safely.
The chaos did not end there. After a shampoo, a customer stood up to reveal their back completely soaked. The culprit was the team’s unfamiliarity with a manual shampoo station, leading to an accidental “water bomb” moment. Embarrassed, Park Bo-gum could barely lift his head, but the customer laughed it off, easing the tension.
Between mishaps, the barbershop was filled with warm and playful moments. A group of four women from the village association brought lively conversation, while Lee Sang-yi boldly launched a nail art service on the spot. Kwak Dong-yeon treated guests with homemade syrup tea and freshly made fish-shaped pastries, showing off skills he had learned from a local pastry master.
Young customers also stopped by, turning the barbershop into a mini playroom. What began as a short break turned into board games and even a magic show by Lee Sang-yi, offering both kids and adults a moment of relaxation.
As closing time approached, the trio continued taking requests without hesitation. A silver-haired grandmother asked for a stylish blow-dry, while an elementary school student requested a hairstyle inspired by Jang Wonyoung. Park Bo-gum handled each request with care, determined to put customer satisfaction first.
Just five minutes before closing, however, a final customer arrived asking for both a haircut and hair coloring. With time running out, viewers were left wondering whether the barbers would shut down on time or push into overtime. The answer will be revealed in episode three, airing February 13 at 8:35 p.m.
