K-pop powerhouse EXO has once again solidified their status as icons of the industry by sweeping the top spots on major music programs with their new song, Crown.
Starting with MBC M and MBC every1's Show! Champion on the 28th of last month, EXO dominated the charts on Mnet's M Countdown, KBS2TV's Music Bank, MBC's Show! Music Core, and SBS's Inkigayo on the 1st. Remarkably, they secured 1st place on all five shows without even appearing in person, achieving a prestigious "5-crown grand slam."
Expressing their gratitude for this achievement, the members shared a heartfelt message: "Like our team slogan 'WE ARE ONE,' we felt that EXO and EXO-L became one through this album. We are happier than ever because it feels like the world recognizes our sincerity and the love from our fans. EXO exists because of EXO-L." They added a promise to always cherish their fans and repay them with great performances.
The title track Crown is a hard dance song that blurs genre boundaries by blending Atlanta trap drums, heavy metal guitar, and EDM synths. The lyrics compare a precious existence to a crown, conveying a desperate vow to protect it at all costs. This narrative, combined with EXO’s signature powerful SMP (SM Music Performance) style, has drawn explosive reactions from global fans.
Released after a hiatus of approximately two years and six months, the 8th regular album conquered both domestic and international charts immediately upon its release. It reached number one on the iTunes Top Albums Chart in 47 regions worldwide and received a "Triple Platinum" certification from China’s QQ Music for exceeding 3 million yuan in sales. Furthermore, it swept the weekly charts on major Korean music platforms such as Hanteo Chart and Circle Chart, proving EXO’s undiminished influence.
Following their spectacular return and music show sweep, EXO is set to hold a large-scale solo concert to celebrate with their fans. From April 10th to 12th, the group will kick off their sixth solo concert tour, EXO PLANET #6 - EXhOrizon, at the KSPO DOME in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul.
