Producer Kim Tae-ho’s new variety program The Secret Friends Club opened with speed, chaos, and strategy, turning a simple undercover gift mission into a full-scale pursuit across the city. The energy instantly recalled the fast-paced chase games that once defined classic Korean reality television.
The premiere on MBC brought together Jennie, Dex, Choo Sung-hoon, Noh Hong-chul, and Lee Soo-ji, each secretly paired with a “manitto” partner and tasked with delivering gifts without revealing their identity. What began as a guessing game quickly escalated into disguise, deduction, and relentless chasing.
Hints such as photos and puzzles fueled the mind games, while the actual deliveries triggered a race. Jennie prepared customized snacks and vitamins, Lee used disguises, and Noh relied on careful research. Dex ultimately struck first, sprinting away after a swift doorbell drop that secured the earliest successful delivery and one of the episode’s biggest laughs.
According to Nielsen Korea, the tense chase between Jennie and Dex and Dex’s getaway moment recorded the highest minute rating at 2.8 percent, highlighting the show’s instant pull.
The Secret Friends Club airs every Sunday at 6:05 p.m.
