[NC Box Office] Once We Were Us Holds No.1… Han So-hee & Jeon Jong-seo’s Project Y Drops to 4th

Once We Were Us, starring Koo Kyo-hwan and Moon Ga-young, has continued its reign at the top of the box office.

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing network on January 23, Once We Were Us attracted 39,481 moviegoers on January 22 alone, ranking first at the box office. Its cumulative audience has now reached 1,746,738.

The film tells the story of Eun-ho (Koo Kyo-hwan) and Jung-won (Moon Ga-young), who once shared a passionate love and unexpectedly reunite ten years later, unfolding memories through a deeply relatable romance. Since its release on December 31, the film has gained strong word-of-mouth for its powerful performances and emotionally resonant storytelling. It surpassed one million admissions in just 12 days and reached its break-even point of 1.1 million viewers on its 13th day.

Choir of God, starring Park Si-hoo and Jung Jin-woon, climbed to second place by drawing 25,206 viewers in a single day. Its cumulative total now stands at 528,153.

The film depicts the story of a fake praise choir created in North Korea for foreign-currency earnings and the events that unfold around it.

Avatar: Fire and Ash ranked fourth, gathering 15,861 viewers in one day and reaching a cumulative audience of 6,449,212.

The film follows the Sully family as they face an even greater crisis on Pandora after the death of their eldest son, Neteyam, with the emergence of the Ash Tribe led by Varang, unfolding a massive conflict across lands consumed by fire and ash.

Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo’s Project Y slipped to fourth place. It attracted 14,437 viewers for the day, bringing its cumulative audience to 40,988.

Project Y tells the story of Mi-seon (Han So-hee) and Do-kyung (Jeon Jong-seo), who dream of a different future in the heart of a glamorous city and end up stealing black money and gold bars at the edge of their lives.

Following behind, Zootopia 2 ranked fifth with 6,811 viewers, pushing its cumulative total to 8,470,262.

Zootopia 2 is a thrilling investigative adventure in which the iconic duo Judy and Nick chase a mysterious snake named Gary who has shaken the city, diving into a new world to solve a perilous case.
