The group BTS is set to hold a historic comeback stage at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul this March. This performance, marking their first full-group return in three years and nine months, has been effectively confirmed, drawing intense attention from fans worldwide.
On the 22nd, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it decided to grant conditional use permission for the "BTS 2026 Comeback Show @ Seoul" performance, requested by HYBE and Big Hit Music, during the 1st Gwanghwamun Square Advisory Group meeting of 2026. The city plans to finalize the approval process once safety management plans pass review and detailed measures to minimize traffic inconvenience are completed. The National Heritage Administration also conditionally approved the performance on the 20th after reviewing its potential impact on cultural heritage.
The concert will be held for free at Gwanghwamun Square on March 21. On this stage, BTS will perform tracks from their 5th regular album, "ARIRANG," scheduled for release on March 20, for the very first time. This event is particularly significant as it marks the group's first reunion with fans on an official stage in approximately three years and five months since their 2022 free concert in Busan, which supported the bid for the 2030 World Expo.
The new album, "ARIRANG," artistically captures BTS's identity as a group originating from Korea, along with the longing and deep love held in their hearts. As it deals with universal emotions, it is expected to resonate widely with global listeners. The performance at Gwanghwamun, a symbolic landmark of Korea, is expected to further solidify the team's cultural identity.
Following the successful completion of the Gwanghwamun performance, BTS will embark on a full-scale world tour. Starting with Seoul concerts at the Goyang Stadium on April 9, 11, and 12, they plan to travel across the globe to meet their international fans.
With the global music industry watching, anticipation is high for the powerful performance and new songs BTS will showcase at Gwanghwamun Square, the heart of Seoul, following their three-year and nine-month hiatus.
